Murder probe launched after woman dies falling from flats in Essex

       The woman, who was seriously injured following the incident, died in hospital yesterday. The police were called to Southend after a woman in her 20s was found in Bewley court. She was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained from having fallen from a height.

       Essex Police have confirmed that the incident is now a murder inquiry and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

       The 26-year-old suspect is currently on bail.

       The incident occurred in the evening of November 10.

       Essex Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses of the event, urging anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward.

       Anyone with information should contact Essex Police, either online at Home or by calling 101 and citing incident 984 of November 10.

       Essex currently has a crime rate of 78 crimes per 1,000 people, putting it in the top 20 most dangerous counties in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

       The most common crimes in the area last year, were violence and sexual offences, which happened to roughly every 35 out of 1,000 residents.

       Southend specifically has seen an increase in violent crime, with violence and sexual offences having increased on last year.

       According to the Southend Echo, there have been 7,569 total reported incidents of violence and sexual offences in the area so far this year.

       Reported violent crime peaked in July, with 1022 incidents reported.

       In July last year, there were just 864 reported crimes.
