PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai has resigned from the board of property development company Tropicana Corp Bhd.

       In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Tropicana said Lim, 64, tendered his resignation as chairman yesterday in view of his other commitments.

       Lim is also the founder and executive chairman of the world’s largest rubber glove producer Top Glove Corp Bhd.

       Lim emerged as a substantial shareholder in Tropicana after acquiring a 10.24% stake in the company on Oct 24, 2017, and was immediately appointed as the group’s deputy chairman. He was redesignated to the position of Tropicana’s chairman on Jan 24, 2019.

       Lim owns 162.21 million shares, or 11.24%, stake in Tropicana.
