TOKYO -- Operations on the Tsukuba Express train line were temporarily suspended from around 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 23, apparently after lightning struck near a general depot in the city of Tsukubamirai in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo.
The railway operator announced on its website shortly before noon that operations had resumed at around 11:54 a.m., though delays were still being experienced.
The Tsukuba Express line links Akihabara Station in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward to Tsukuba Station in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture.
