GEORGE TOWN: It has been more than two years since they last came to Penang for the food, beautiful sights and sandy beaches.

       And with the nation set to transit into the endemic phase, it was a weekend well spent for 40 supercar owners as they explored the city as part of their gathering and get-together here.

       The three-day programme, which started on Friday, was participated and co-organised by the Northern Lotus Club, Penang Super Car Group and Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

       The event saw the participants visiting several heritage sites here like the Khoo Kongsi and Batu Ferringhi beaches.

       Organiser Syed Aidid Syed Mohamad, who represented the Penang Super Car Group for the event, said the bi-annual gathering was organised to gather all supercar owners and do fun activities together.

       It was also to strengthen the camaraderie among each other, he said, adding that the participants came from all over Malaysia.

       “They were very excited during the course of the programme when they were brought to several tourist destinations in Penang.”Syed Aidid said they drove along Gurney Drive and hung out at Batu Ferringhi beaches as well as took a drive around Penang island where the participants had lunch in Balik Pulau.

       “This trip gave us the opportunity to showcase Penang hospitality,” he said.

       Syed Aidid said a dinner that was held at Thirty Two at the Mansion restaurant in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah on Saturday was the curtain raiser to the programme.

       He also said that several other programmes were set to be organised in Penang, Melaka and Johor in the near future.

       Lotus Official Club Malaysia president Dr KN Chong said the gathering was a great platform to promote comradeship among the members.

       “The members share a passion for driving and such events promote better communication and friendship among us,” he said.
