Social media has been flooded with 'it's coming to Rome' memes, flaunting Italy's Euro 2020 final win. The game started off on a high note for the Three Lions with a second minute Luke Shaw half-volley but veteran centre-back Bonucci brought Italy level, prompting extra time and penalties.

       Italy won 3-2 in a nerve-racking penalty shootout, marking their first Euro win since 1968.

       Rashford, Sancho and Saka missed in the shootout, giving Italy the title.

       The Three Lions dreamt of winning their first major tournament for 55 years - but the nation will have to wait a little longer despite heroic efforts.

       The Italian team has never lost a game to the Three Lions in a major tournament and, after the match on Sunday, remain unbeaten in 34 international fixtures.

       Mockery from Italian supporters plays on England's 'it's coming home' chant.

       The famous chant from iconic football anthem Three Lions by David Baddiel, The Lightning Seeds and Frank Skinner has been flipped to support the opposing team.

       Instead of coming home, it is “coming to Rome”.

       Just moments after Saka's missed penalty, Italy's Bonucci yelled into a camera: "It's coming to Rome, it's coming to Rome!"

       Italian fans joked they won two major European competitions this year - Eurovision and now the Euro 2020.

       One Twitter user wrote: “Congratulations to Italy for being the first country to win Eurovision AND Euros in the same year! Absolutely deserved.”

       Italian football fans have posted maps on Twitter to show how far the trophy would have to travel to Rome, as well as photoshopping Italian football players into famous movie scenes.

       Memes also included a Royal Mail package with Home written on it, but to taunt English football fans, Italian supporters crossed out the letter H and added R to make the address Rome.

       Some joked that Gareth Southgate, England team manager, would have to return a trophy cabinet by photoshopping him with a box at Ikea.
