       Baroness Hoey, a prominent Leave supporter, and former Labour MP, added: “Labour voters have not given up on Brexit – and Sir Keir will pay the price for thinking otherwise.”

       Critics within the party say the deal could drive voters into the arms of Reform UK, particularly in Red Wall constituencies that backed Leave in 2016.

       The Prime Minister has also agreed to give the EU 12 more years of access to British waters under the current status quo – dropping earlier plans to limit access to just four years. Fishermen, who urged him not to “sell out” to Brussels, are likely to see it as a major concession.

       Sir Keir insists the deal is in the national interest and says it will boost defence spending and strengthen the UK’s role in European security.

       But with the EU demanding a ten-year extension on fishing rights and potential oversight from the European Court of Justice, concerns over sovereignty are mounting.
