KOTA KINABALU: The state government is committed to implementing all initiatives based on the Sabah electricity supply authority, with the targets set under the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Chief Minister said Sabah will continue working with the federal government in ensuring all efforts to improve the power supply performance in the state.
He said the state would also continue its collaboration with Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) and assist in its implementation of the SESB transformation plan.
“The state, through the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS), will seek the direct involvement of all stakeholders so that current issues can be addressed effectively and efficiently,” Hajiji said in a statement.
He said this after a symbolic handing over of electricity supply authority from the federal government to the state in an event here Friday (Jan 19).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister, represented the federal government in this symbolic handing over ceremony.
Hajiji said the takeover process was completed with the enactment and amendment of three bills in a recent special state assembly sitting on Jan 3.

With this, on behalf of the state government, he thanked the federal government for approving this takeover.
“This shows the common goals of both the state and federal governments as well as the high level of cooperation between both parties,” he said.
“I hope this cooperation and effort would bring Sabah’s energy supply commitment to higher grounds for the benefit of its people,” Hajiji said.
