A PREDATOR who tried to rape a sleeping woman at King's Cross station told police it was "okay because she wasn't dead".

She awoke to find him trying to rape her and, despite her attempts to stop him, Mohamed overpowered her and carried on the vile attack for half an hour.

His assault was only stopped when the victim's friend woke up and intervened.

The woman approached police officers later the same morning to report the attempted rape.

She identified Mohamed, who was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

In interview, he claimed that if someone was asleep it was okay to have sex with them because "they aren’t dead".

And when he was shown CCTV footage of the incident, he told police he was just "trying to help [the victim] sleep properly".

Mohamed, of no fixed address, was found guilty of attempted rape at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday.

Detective Constable Rachel Parfitt, of the British Transport Police, said: "Amer Mohammed is a vile predator who deliberately targeted an unconscious woman and subjected her to a truly abhorrent attack in the belief she would be powerless to stop him.

"It is beyond contemptible that he has not only shown a complete lack of remorse for his actions but actively tried to defend himself, claiming on record that it’s fine have sex with someone if they are asleep.

"I will be absolutely clear that it is not and we will work relentlessly to ensure sexual offenders like him are brought before the courts to face the full force of the law.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting our investigation despite being forced by Mohamed to relive her traumatic ordeal in court.

"It is her bravery which has ensured he has faced justice today."
