A GOTHIC 19th century church has been put on the market for £2million after undergoing an incredible transformation.

The French Protestant Church of Brighton is now in heavenly condition after a chic renovation that took over a decade to complete.

After hearing the cries of the congregation since 1887, the historical site has now become one of the hottest properties up for grabs in the seaside town.

The grandeur of the building remains intact thanks to the owners keeping the original red brickwork, beautiful stained glassed windows and grand arched doors after buying the property in 2008.

The two-bed home has three pairs of lancet windows as well as a copper spire on top of the square turret, ensuring the authentic feel stays intact.

But upon opening the large church doors, the interior is more rich than religious.

An enormous living room welcomes guests into a contemporary vision of glass and class, which can be observed from the principle mezzanine level.

Supported by exposed steel beams, it leads up to a first-floor bedroom suite with a huge four-poster bed, fitted roll top bath and feature stained glass window.

And you can even keep an eye on your guests downstairs from the comfort of the glass tower, by taking a look through the reinforced circular glass in the floor.

Its quirky decor only accentuates the original features of the home - such as the time capsule containing items associated with Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

The remarkable piece of history is set into the main stone foundation, allowing future buyers to inherit an eternal piece of the past.

The current owners even found a way to upcycle the original altar of the French Protestant Church - by turning into a bar.

The private kitchen area is finished in a simple yet sleek white matte with a light grey stone worktop in the former church.

Further steps take you down to bedroom two, a sunken and cosy haven from the open-plan features.

It includes an en-suite shower room and a substantial storage area to stash your bits and bobs.

The unrestrictive atmosphere of the property is even reflected outside on the modern style sundeck, which was added to the exterior of the church.

With a lightwell window and panes of glass bordering the balcony, it perfectly compliments the attention-grabbing gothic features of the building.

As its nestled in between some of Brighton’s most iconic locations, such as the Metropole hotel, Norfolk Square, the i360 and the seafront, the balcony is the perfect place to observe from.

But if you're thinking of making a bid for the £2million building, you might want to look away now.

In the mid 1800's, the plot of land was purchased for just £735 and the actual building cost just £800 - which proves quite a surge in valuation.

Rightmove described the property as a "masterpiece in history, architecture and interior design located within the heart of Brighton."

The estate agents are looking for a buyer who is keen to carry on the legacy of the church while residing in a luxurious home.
