Body appears to be removed from the Bibby Stockholm
Home Secretary James Cleverly promised an investigation after the death of an asylum seeker on board the Bibby Stockholm.
Police were called to reports of a "sudden death" of a man living on the giant vessel, in Portland, Dorset, early this morning.
Mr Cleverly told MPs in the Commons: "Tragically, there has been a death on the Bibby Stockholm barge.
"I'm sure that the thoughts of the whole House, like mine, are with those affected.
"The House will understand that at this stage I am uncomfortable getting into any more details. But we will of course investigate fully."

The asylum seeker is believed to have taken his own life.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "At 6.22am on Tuesday 12 December 2023, Dorset Police received a report of a sudden death of a resident on the Bibby Stockholm.
"Officers are conducting inquiries into the circumstances of the incident.
"The coroner's office has been notified of the death."
Further details of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

Campaigners criticised conditions on the barge following the death of the asylum seeker.
The vessel has been blighted by problems since it was docked earlier this year.
In August asylum seekers were evacuated days after being moved on following the discovery of Legionella bacteria in the water supply.
They were returned to the giant barge two months later in October.
The vessel, which can accommodate 500 people, is aimed at reducing the eye-watering hotel bill for housing asylum seekers.

It comes as Rishi Sunak faces a crunch vote on his Rwanda Bill in the Commons tonight with right-wing Tory MPs threatening to rebel.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "We are aware of reporting of an incident involving an asylum seeker on the Bibby Stockholm.
"This is an ongoing police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
