       KUWAIT CITY, June 22: The Kuwait Municipality has approved a special real estate request regarding the allocation of state land in the Murgab area (Plot No. 3), to build the multi-storey car parks, on an area measuring 2,702.1 square meters, to meet the demand for car parking to fulfill the needs of motorists who will be working in the commercial complex to be built on Plot No. 127 in the same area, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a letter addressed to the Municipal Council, the Municipality stipulated that the aforementioned car parking building (which will be for public use) be built at the expense of the applicant and the latter commitment to maintain the building for at least two years, a clause that will be stipulated in the maintenance contract that the builder signs with the State Property Department.

       The building will be handed over upon completion of its implementation to the State Properties Department provided a traffic study is submitted showing the number of required parking lots, entrances and exits, the impact of the building on the road network in the region as a whole, and prove that the building is architecturally compatible with the surrounding buildings, with the use of the latest technologies.

       The Municipality noted what the building system stipulates for the requirements and specifications for the buildings of commercial complexes outside and inside Kuwait City, that “in the event that the space allocated for the parking area exceeds 200 percent of the entire area of the property inside the city, and the required parking spaces are not provided for the building, the owner may, after the approval of the concerned authorities in the Municipality use of state-owned lands surrounding the real estate in building basements or multi-storey buildings to be used to supplement the car parking required for the building. The Municipality also agreed to allocate a multi-storey car park in Hawally Plot No. 189 with an area of 10,721 square meters, provided that the requirements of the Sub- Committee for Public Utilities and Services are adhered to.
