One person was killed and another was injured in separate expressway shootings early Thursday on the Stevenson Expressway. The shootings brought the total number of expressway shootings to 213 this year.
At 5:39 a.m., Illinois State Police responded to a shooting on the northbound Stevenson Expressway near the ramp to the Dan Ryan Expressway. One person was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. The northbound lanes of the Stevenson were closed at Damen Avenue while police investigated.
The other shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. also on the northbound Stevenson near DuSable Lake Shore Drive. One person was taken to the hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police. The northbound lanes of the Stevenson to southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive were closed for investigation but have been reopened.
