JOHOR BARU: Two units at the 10-storey Flat Desa Belantik in Jalan Sri Stulang near here were gutted by fire on Wednesday (March 30).
The Fire and Rescue Department's Larkin station chief Suhaimi Abdul Jamal said they received an emergency call about the blaze at around 8am.
"The fire destroyed 80% of the flat on the fourth floor and 15% of the unit on the fifth floor," he said in a statement.
He said the operation led by senior officer Nazarudin Ahmad Zainuddin ended at 10.16am.
"Twenty-five firemen from the Larkin and Tebrau stations were deployed to the scene," Suhaimi said in a statement.
Three Fire Rescue Tender vehicles, an Emergency Medical Response Services vehicle, a water tanker, a Triton Utility Vehicle and a Rapid Intervention Motorcycle were used in the operation, he added.
The cause of the fire and losses suffered are still under investigation.
