MUAR: A corrugated carton box factory at Parit Jamil Industrial area in Parit Jamil near here was razed in fire on Tuesday (Nov 16).
Muar Fire and Rescue Department chief Sharizal Mokhtar said the department received an emergency call at 2.48pm.
He said 38 firefighters from Pagoh and Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Departments were deployed to the scene.
Sharizal said among others a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), an Emergency Medical Response Service vehicle (EMRS), a water tanker, and two Rapid Intervention Motorcycles (RIM) from the Muar Fire and Rescue Department were deployed in the operations.
He said they were assisted by an FRT and an EMRS vehicle from the Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Department, and a Light FRT from the Pagoh Fire and Rescue Department.
"The fire destroyed about 85% of the factory building," said Sharizal in a statement.
He said the cause of the fire and losses suffered are still under investigation.
The fire was put off on Wednesday (Nov 17) at around noon.
