KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man over the bogus sales of rubber gloves worth over RM85,000.

City Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Asst Comm Mahidisham Ishak said they received two reports from the victim.

"The individual claimed to have made a deal to buy RM85,000 worth of rubber gloves from the suspect.

"We arrested the 36-year-old suspect on Sunday (July 11) and charged him under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating the next day," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 13).

He said the suspect has claimed trial.

"We advise the public to be cautious when making any business deals.

"Always make purchases from valid outlets in order to avoid becoming a victim of fraud," he said.

He added that the public should also perform background checks on companies or businesses before making any transactions.

Those with information on the case or similar cases should contact the City police hotline at 03-2146 0584 or 03-2146 0585, or head to the nearest police station.
