TOKYO -- Himari Yoshimura, 10, won the grand prize at the 15th International Competition for Young Violinists in Honour of Karol Lipinski and Henryk Wieniawski held in Lublin, eastern Poland, on Sept. 16 (local time), becoming the youngest champion in the event's history.

Yoshimura is a fourth grader at Keio Yochisha Elementary School. The grand prize is an even greater honor than fist place at the competition, which is held once every three years. One former participant is Vadim Repin, one of the greatest violinists of this generation.
