SIBU: Sarawak recorded 2,707 new Covid-19 cases with 20 deaths on Sunday (Sept 19).
The state disaster management committee in a statement said Sibu had the most number of deaths with four, followed by Serian (three), Lubok Antu, Sri Aman and Miri (two each) while one case was recorded in Kuching, Bau, Selangau, Kanowit, Bintulu, Beluru, and Matu respectively.
The fatalities were patients aged between 52 and 97, comprising 12 men and eight women.
All of them had comorbidities which included high blood pressure, gout, diabetes, kidney and heart failure and stroke.
"Of the 2,707 new cases, 2,700 of them or 99.74 were Category One and Two cases while the remaining seven (0.26%) were Category Three, Four and Five cases," the committee said.
Seven districts recording three-digit cases - Kuching (697), Bintulu (355), Sibu (333), Miri (228), Samarahan (165), Serian (162) and Bau (144) - while 19 districts had two-digit cases and nine recorded a single-digit case.
Cumulatively, the total number of cases stood at 179,788.
One new cluster, the Jalan Taman Raja, Miri cluster was detected where out of 151 people tested, 26 tested positive for Covid-19.
