KOTA BARU: Police are hunting for three men who were behind a pawnshop robbery in Pasir Mas in Kelantan.
Acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said they received a report about the incident from the victim at about 4.45pm, who said three masked men had robbed his shop in Pasir Mas using weapons resembling a pistol and knife at 4.30pm on Thursday (May 5).
"The victim and five of the shop's workers were then tied up and robbers forced the victim to open all drawers in the safe.
"The suspect also asked the victim to fill a bag with about RM1mil in cash and jewellery," he said in a statement.
He said the suspects took off with in a white car belonging to the victim.
Muhammad Zaki said police immediately set up roadblocks throughout Kelantan and deployed teams from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and General Operations Force (GOF) to border gateways as well as illegal jetties.
He said policemen and GOF personnel found the victim's vehicle abandoned by the roadside in Kuala Jambu, Pengkalan Kubor at 12.30am on Friday (May 6).
He said police then called the victim as well as several witnesses to assist the investigation.
Muhamad Zaki added that the case was being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code and urged the public who witnessed the incident to come forward and help in the investigation. – Bernama
