KUCHING: Factories allowed to operate during phase one of the National Recovery Plan must adhere to all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) or face being slapped with compound notices, says city police chief Asst Comm Ahsmon Bajah.

ACP Ahsmon said these included the use of hand sanitisers, temperature checks and not exceeding the number of workers allowed on the premises.

"We are currently monitoring factory premises under Ops Patuh.

"This is a continuation of previous operations with other enforcement agencies to ensure that all sectors allowed to operate comply with the SOPs drawn up by the state disaster management committee and the Health Ministry," he said after inspecting several factories at Bintawa here on Friday (July 2).

On the Bintawa factories, ACP Ahsmon said most of them were found to be in compliance with the SOP.

However, he said a seafood processing factory would be issued a compound notice for not providing hand sanitiser at its premises.

"The factory had temperature checks and complied with the number of workers allowed, but it did not have hand sanitiser.

"This is a violation of the SOP, so we will issue a compound," he said.
