KUCHING: Election aspirants contesting for the Bukit Kota seat should stick to a “clean campaign” and avoid using personal issues in their campaign, says former assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail (pic).

“Let us compete in this election the healthy way, let us not use sensitive issues or go on personal attacks just to gain attention,” said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak candidate on Tuesday (Dec 7).

He believes that even without having to resort to mudslinging, voters would know how to mark GPS’ contribution to the state.

Abdul Rahman said he is banking on the use of social media to highlight his campaign.

“I will broadcast every night from 9pm to 10pm in addition to going out to campaign in small groups in accordance with the standard operating procedure,” he said.

Abdul Rahman is in a four-cornered fight with Rosli Amat from Parti Sarawak Bersatu, Lim Lian Hun from Parti Bumi Kenyalang and Independent candidate Harun Bungsu.

He won the seat uncontested in the last state election, allowing him to retain the Bukit Kota seat which he had held since 2006.
