A 28-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

       The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of 30th Street SE, in a residential neighborhood near Suitland Parkway.

       Police said the victim, identified as Deandre Hunter of Southeast Washington, died at a hospital. No arrest had been made, and police did not release additional details.

       There have now been 204 homicides in the District this year, a 12 percent increase over this time in 2020 and the most since 2003.
