MERSING: A 64-year-old man was killed after his vehicle rammed into a cow at Jalan Perkampungan Felda Tenggaroh 2, here.

       Mersing OCPD Supt Cyril Edward Nuing said the incident occurred on Monday (June 6) at 8.40pm when the man was heading home together with his 40-year-old son-in-law.

       “The car was driven by the son-in-law, while the victim was seated in the front passenger seat.

       “They were heading towards Felda Tenggaroh 2 from Kota Tinggi. The driver then suddenly rammed into a cow after failing to avoid the animal which was crossing the road,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (June 8).

       He added that the impact caused the man to suffer a serious injury to his head while the driver was unharmed.

       “The victim was pronounced dead while being treated at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

       “We would like to remind cattle owners to be responsible and ensure their livestock does not wander off and cause accidents,” he said.

       Supt Cyril added that the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
