Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, shows off her sporting prowess as she’s pictured sailing while on a solo trip to Guernsey.
Wearing a bright blue polo shirt, navy shorts and some cool shades, the 59-year-old is pictured on board the Ocean Youth Trust South's vessel, the Prolific. Putting safety first, the royal is always spotted wearing a life jacket.
Sophie, who is Patron of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO), is attending ASTO's Guernsey to Pool Small Ships race.
The event was inspired by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's 200th Anniversary, at St Peter Port Harbour, St Julian's Pier, Guernsey.
Duchess Sophie looks calm and collected as she heads out on board the Prolific. The royal clutches on to one of the sailing lines as she looks out to sea. Sophie, who has her hair swept back in a low pony tail, is pictured sweeping stray hairs behind her ears.

Duchess Sophie is in Guernsey to celebrate the Association of Sail Training Organisations’ Guernsey – Poole Small Ships Race. The race runs from August 13-15, from Guernsey to Poole and involves young people across 12 boats. Sophie will meet with around 140 of those who are taking part in the race.
