PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 21,483 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (March 22), bringing the cumulative total number of cases in the country to 4,032,435 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 21,089 of Tuesday's Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while there were 394 imported cases.
It also reported that there were 32,561 recoveries from Covid-19 recorded on Tuesday.
There are currently 252,671 active Covid-19 infections in the country, with 244,262 or 96.7% undergoing home quarantine and a further 1,453 patients admitted to low-risk quarantine and treatment centres nationwide.
The Health Ministry said that 6,617 or 2.6% of active Covid-19 cases have been warded in hospitals while 339 individuals, or 0.2%, are currently being treated at intensive care units (ICUs).
There are currently 209 Covid-19 cases requiring ventilator support in ICU, while the remaining 130 are unventilated.
