MELAKA: A suspected sex worker attempted to make a getaway after scaling down from a third-floor window of a budget hotel in Taman Melaka Raya during a raid by the Melaka Immigration Department.

State Immigration director Anirwan Fauzee Mohd Aini said the 27-year-old climbed out of the window 6m from the ground and attempted to flee from the raiding officers during the raid at 6pm on Monday (Nov 6).

“The foreigner was detained at the back alley of the building during the raid that four officers and 18 personnel led.

“The woman was unscathed in the incident,” he said on Tuesday (Nov 7).

Anirwan Fauzee said 12 other illegal immigrants offering sex services through social media were also arrested during the raid.

He said the raid was conducted after a two-week intelligence gathering over the offer of immoral services by these foreigners at the budget hotel.

Anirwan Fauzee said that based on the preliminary findings, these women, aged 25 to 35 years old, priced their services at RM250 to RM350 per session.

“Two local men who had engaged the women's services and the hotel management staff were also summoned as witnesses.

“Several items like condoms and birth control pills were also confiscated during the raid,” he said.

Anirwan Fauzee said all the women had no valid travel documents or failed to produce their work permits when asked to do so.

He added all those detained were sent to Machap Umboo Immigration Camp and are currently being probed under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
