KUCHING: Sarawak's new Covid-19 cases rose to 836 on Tuesday (Aug 10), with more than half coming from Kuching.
The state disaster management committee said Kuching recorded 458 cases, followed by Serian with 131.
A further 23 districts reported between one and 56 cases each, taking the state's cumulative tally to 82,753.
The committee said 290 of the new cases were close contacts of Covid-19 patients while 413 were detected in active clusters.
"There were four imported cases involving individuals returning from Kedah, Melaka, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur," it said in a statement.
It added that 710 of the new cases were asymptomatic (Category One) while 126 had mild symptoms (Category Two).
There were no cases in the more serious Categories Three to Five.
The committee also said there were two fatalities, taking the state's death toll to 473.
The latest deaths were two men aged 61 and 78 who both died at Sarawak General Hospital.
In addition, seven new community clusters were identified with confirmed cases ranging from seven to 54 to date.
The clusters involved one village each in Kabong, Saratok and Lundu; as well as three villages and a residential area in Kuching.
