A woman who was pulled in critical condition from Lake Michigan in the overnight hours of Tuesday morning has died, authorities said.
The woman was identified as Kelly Jirgal, 46, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Jirgal was initially pulled from Montrose Harbor around 2:15 a.m. Sept. 5 after police had responded to a report of a woman who dived into the water near the harbor’s south end and did not surface, authorities said. She was brought to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.
Jirgal later died around 6:15 a.m. that day, according to the medical examiner’s office.
