PETALING JAYA: Workers on a gondola in Kuala Lumpur had a harrowing experience when it started swinging violently in mid-air, buffeted by strong winds after it came loose from its moorings.
A video that went viral on social media shows the gondola swaying erratically and repeatedly smashing into the side of the TS Law Tower building in the city.
Workers can be seen hanging on for dear life to the rails of the gondola.
A man behind the camera is heard shouting: “The rain is coming, quickly run, why are you all still not coming down. Do you want to die?”
In another viral video of the incident, workers can be seen climbing out of the gondola after it rests on the side of the building.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre commander Junain Bahau said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 22) that they immediately dispatched a team of four personnel after they received an emergency call.
“When we arrived at the scene after receiving information from a representative of the construction site, the victims on the gondola had already managed to save themselves.
“There was no action from the Bomba team at the scene,” he said.
