POLICE have arrested an independent speaker to assist in the investigation over allegations of physical sexual assault of a five-year-old girl last month, Sinar Harian reported.

Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief, Asst Comm Suffian Sulaiman said the 61-year-old man was arrested while giving his testimony at the Ajil police station in Hulu Terengganu on Monday.

“The physical sexual act was allegedly committed by the suspect during a programme at a boat house in Hulu Terengganu in March.

“The victim had participated in the programme with her father and grandmother, but the mother did not attend the event,” he said.

ACP Suffian said the girl then related the incident to her mother upon returning home, and a police report was lodged later.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

       > Singer Amira Othman is shocked to learn about famous composer and producer Roslan Aziz, 60, who has been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma cancer and has been given six months to live, Berita Harian reported.

Amira, 28, said she was beholden to Roslan during her time at Akademi Fantasia (AF) 2013.

“I owe him a lot and I am really shocked by this news. I am saddened but the Uncle Roslan I know has a strong fighting spirit,” she said.

Roslan revealed during an interview with Astro Awani that he suffered severed stomach pains on Nov 1, and subsequently went for a medical check up at a hospital.

“At first I was really sad when the doctor gave me the diagnosis. I realised that life is short and the end of the cancer is death” he said.

       > Police investigation into the death of a 10-month-old baby boy named Muhammad Adam Rizqi Abdul Azim in 2020, revealed that there were no criminal elements, Harian Metro reported.

This came after police probed the autopsy report on Baby Adam issued by Hospital Kuala Lumpur that showed the cause of death was due to pneumonia.

Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Children Investigation Division (D11) assistant director Asst Comm Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the autopsy report also showed there were no criminal elements detected in the baby’s death.

She added that the review also found that a report was made by the owner of Rumah Bonda regarding Adam’s death. Adam had been under the care of Rumah Bonda.

“Thorough checks on Rumah Bonda were made after the report was filed following the child abuse case of Bella.

“It was a trigger point for us to re-look the case and other issues related to Rumah Bonda,” she said.

She also said based on their checks, a total of 10 police reports were lodged against the owner of Rumah Bonda especially after Bella’s case was highlighted.
