Simon Reeve blasts mass migration as being a 'racket'
Simon Reeve has blasted mass-migration as a "racket" as he slammed lefties during a conversation on Laura Kuenssberg's Sunday Morning politics show.
The author and journalist blasted Rishi Sunak's Rwanda policy, telling the panel: "I think it's a gimmick, I think it's designed to appeal to voters rather than to actually make change.
"But I would step back slightly from it as an issue and say what are we trying to achieve, what is our ultimate aim on this immigration issue?
"My principal desire is to make poor countries a bit wealthier. I do not think that is necessarily achieved by mass migration. I think mass migration is a bit of a racket in many ways.
"I think too often people on the left don't see it for what it is, which is often, in my view, what I see, is us, as wealthy countries poaching, nicking and nabbing clever, bright and wonderful people from other countries, bringing them over here to work as pizza delivery people and courier drivers, I don't think it necessarily helps them or the people in their countries."
Mr Reeve appeared on the popular BBC politics show alongside Labour's Yvette Cooper, Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf and Defence Secretary Grants Shapps.

But Ms Kuenssberg's reaction, where she cut off the travel reporter, sparked an angry reaction on social media.
@BigCascade1 wrote on X: "#simonreeve raises a point about mass migration which colours outside the normal left/right lines - #bbclaurak shuts him down.
"Shame -a panel should be to there to provide fresh perspectives, not just fall in line with one or other competing orthodoxies."

@JonesInMarbella added: "@bbclaurak terrible that you cut @simon_reeve off during his articulation of what the real issues are here with mass immigration. The first time I hear someone on the BBC striking at the heart of the issues but you wouldn’t even know how to develop that conversation. Typical BBC."
And @Suziplum said: "@BBCPolitics @BBCOne Simon Reeve, let's have him on the programme. Every time he speaks though, we will shut him down. I saw the look of absolute horror on your face when he didn't stick to the BBC narrative on migration. That was disgraceful @bbclaurak . If anyone needs proof of editorial bias.."
