PETALING JAYA: Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (pic) says learning new skills goes a long way in life.

       He gave an analogy of how his family learned how to cut hair, which came in handy during the movement control order.

       "It's a holiday today and since my hair is long I asked my wife to help cut it for me.

       "I still remember when I was a child my late father used to cut my hair.

       "It is a skill I also learned and it became very useful for me when I was studying in Melbourne in 1997," said Dr Radzi on his Facebook on April 19 (Tuesday).

       "I also taught my wife how to cut hair when we were in Australia and whenever we go she is now my barber. Even my eldest child is learning the skill."

       He said the message here was not the skills but rather the knowledge and its uses.

       "Even if it is little knowledge it could be used in our daily lives and when we teach our children and they teach others, the full potential of the teacher is realised.

       "As such whenever I get the opportunity to impart knowledge formally or informally I do not let it go to waste," added Dr Radzi.
