Nicky Campbell brought to tears by Post Office scandal victim
A former Armed Forces Minister has demanded the Ministry of Defence (MoD) come clean over its reliance on under-fire software giant Fujitsu for security contracts.
Tory MP Mark Francois, who now serves on the Defence Select Committee, has blasted the MoD for not revealing details of its contracts with the company at the centre of the Post Office-Horizon scandal.
Failures in Fujitsu's Horizon system and a subsequent cover-up meant that hundreds of sub-postmasters were wrongly tried and in many cases sent to prison for phantom losses of thousands of pounds.
The issue had its origins in the late 1990s but became a political hot potato in 2012 and has now become a national talking point since ITV screened the biopic "Mr Bates vs the Post Office" earlier this month.
In a written answer to Mr Francois, Defence Minister James Cartlidge admitted that the MoD has 12 contracts with Fujitsu currently but he refused to give the value of them because "each is commercially sensitive".

Mr Francois is unhappy with the response and the lack of detail.
He now wants defence ministers to provide details on the contracts because of the potential security implications if the software systems have the same problems as Horizon.
The senior MP told Express.co.uk: "The fact the MoD are hiding behind commercial confidentiality shows how embarrassed they are by their reliance on Fujitsu.
"The department should be urgently reviewing all their contracts with the company and should be transparent with Select Committee about the extent of their potential exposure, especially if the Horizon enquiry concludes Fujitsu were culpable in the scandal."

Express.co.uk asked Fujitsu for a response but received no answer.
However, previously the company said: "The current Post Office Horizon IT statutory Inquiry is examining complex events stretching back over 20 years to understand who knew what, when, and what they did with that knowledge.
"The Inquiry has reinforced the devastating impact on postmasters’ lives and that of their families, and Fujitsu has apologised for its role in their suffering.

"Fujitsu is fully committed to supporting the Inquiry in order to understand what happened and to learn from it. Out of respect for the Inquiry process, it would be inappropriate for Fujitsu to comment further at this time."
The Japanese company brought in by Sir Tony Blair when he was Prime Minister has contracts with other Government departments which are also now being called into question.
Meanwhile, former Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells has handed back her CBE over the alleged cover-up and the ex-Post Office minister Sir Ed Davey who initially refused to meet the victims of the scandal is under pressure to quit as Lib Dem leader.
