During the telephone conference with Virginia Giuffre's legal team, the Duke's representative argued he was not served legal papers under UK law or the Hague Convention. Andrew B. Brettler represented Andrew this evening during the telephone conference. In response, Ms Giuffre's legal team claimed the Duke had been sent the paper by Royal Mail.

According to ITV's Chris Ship, Mr Brettler said the sexual assault claim against the Duke is "baseless".

Mr Brettler was revealed as the Duke's representative in notice of appearance papers today.

The document states: "Mr Brettler, who is a member in good standing of the bar of this Court, hereby enters this special appearance on behalf of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, in the above-captioned proceeding, for the purpose of contesting purported services of process and challenging jurisdiction."

While Mr Brettler argued the jurisdiction of the document today, Ms Giuffre's team insisted the Duke was sent legal papers on August 2 as persuant under the Hague Convention.

David Boies, legal representative for Ms Giuffre asked for alternative means to service the Duke following his legal team's challenge.

The judge said he had a week to do so.

Previously Ms Giuffre's team said the Duke's lawyers were informed via email and post.

The judge will hear further arguments on October 13.
