SEREMBAN: The Bukit Putus murder investigation, which already unearthed a second murder, has now led police to discover two more cases of physical abuse involving a woman and a toddler.

The initial murder in the case, of a 29-year-old woman whose body was found in a ravine near KM14 of the Jalan Lama Bukit Putus-Seremban road on March 20, saw police arrest two brothers, aged 41 and 44, along with the older brother's 18-year-old daughter two days later.

The dead woman is believed to be related to the suspects.

Following the arrests, police were led to the discovery of a second body on April 7, this time the skeletal remains of a child in a jungle near a residential area in Taman Bukit Zamrud.

The child, a girl, is believed to have died around two to three months ago.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said police believe the abuse cases involving a 35-year-old woman and a 20-month-old toddler, who were currently receiving treatment at a health facility, were connected to the two murders.

"Both the victims of abuse are currently undergoing treatment at a facility which we cannot name.

"We are now compiling all evidence and hope to charge those behind the crimes soon," he said in a statement.

ACP Nanda said a preliminary police probe showed that only one of the three suspects was involved in the abuse cases.

The order to remand the 44-year-old suspect ends on Wednesday (April 13), while the two others will remain under custody till April 16.

The cases are being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, Section 326 of the same legislation for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a weapon and Section 31(1) of the Child Act for exposing a child to physical and emotional injury.
