KUWAIT CITY, June 26: The Council of Ministers has cautioned against the dangers of spreading rumors, false news, and misinformation, urging social media platforms and news services to uphold media professionalism, credibility, and the national interest.

In its meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah, the Council denounced recent instances where social media and news services published incorrect reports about the actions of ministries and government agencies. Emphasizing the need for accountability, the Council stated that legal action would be taken against anyone found spreading false information.

The Council approved decisions by the Supreme Committee for the Achievement of Kuwaiti Nationality, which included cases of loss and withdrawal of citizenship in accordance with Decree Law 15 of 1959.

The Council directed the Ministry of Information to conduct more interviews with ministers and government leaders to highlight their services and achievements. This initiative aims to enhance communication between citizens and officials for the benefit of the country.

The Council discussed recommendations from the Ministerial Public Services Committee regarding the development of Sulaibikhat Bay and the Jahra waterfront (Corniche). The Kuwait Municipality was tasked with coordinating with relevant entities to expedite the implementation of these projects. The Municipality is also required to provide periodic reports on the progress, timelines, and any obstacles faced during the execution of these projects.

First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef updated the Cabinet on his meeting with Bernard Olalia, Deputy Minister of Migrant Labor of the Philippines. The discussions led to an agreement to lift the ban on the recruitment of Filipino workers to Kuwait. Both sides agreed to resume the issuance of entry and work visas for Filipino nationals and to allow the recruitment of experienced Filipino domestic workers. Additionally, a joint technical working committee will be established to address employment issues and concerns periodically.

The Cabinet listened to a briefing by the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, on the current status of the electrical system. The Council expressed gratitude to citizens, residents, and various entities for their prompt response to calls for reducing electricity consumption following last Wednesday’s power outage. The cooperation of individuals and organizations helped stabilize the electrical system, especially during peak times.
