JOHOR BARU: Police have handed the investigation papers of a bullying case to Bukit Aman.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Zaharudin Rasip said the investigation papers of five Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Muar students for suspected bullying had been given to the Bukit Aman prosecution and legal unit.
“We are awaiting further directive. The case is referred to Bukit Aman as it has become a matter of public interest,” he said yesterday.
ACP Zaharudin said the investigation only involved the students and no action had thus far been taken against them after their remand period ended.
“For now, I can’t confirm what kind of action has been taken by the college against the students as it is the school holidays,” he said.
On Dec 15, five teenage boys were arrested for allegedly bullying and injuring a 14-year-old student.
They were picked up at separate locations in Selangor, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Johor.
The senior students are said to be unhappy with the attitude displayed by the victim and his friends, causing the victim to suffer injuries to his left ribs on Dec 9.
A report was lodged on Dec 14 and the police are investigating the case for rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
