SUSSEX Bulldog Dotty needed surgery to remove a tennis ball she swallowed whole.
The one-year-old Sussex Bulldog wolfed the ball down in one gulp while out for a walk with her owner, Amy Fillery.

Amy, 37, assumed her pooch had just lost the toy as she never imagined she could swallow one so quickly.
She told The Sun: “She loves her tennis balls and I usually get through about 10 a week because she always loses them.
“I saw her gulp something down but I never imagined it would be the tennis ball. I assumed she must have lost it so we tried to look for it but couldn’t find it.”
Amy, from Copthorne, West Sussex, took Dotty home and realised something was wrong when the family pet started to throw up after eating.
The poor pup lost a dramatic amount of weight and Amy decided to take her to the vets to get her checked out.
Amy, who works in advertising, told The Sun: “The vet did an X-ray and was completely shocked.
“He said he had been working at the practice for 25 years and had never seen a dog swallow a tennis ball whole before.
“It was sitting in her stomach and blocking any food from travelling into her intestine which was why she was vomiting.”
Poor Dotty had surgery to remove the ball last Tuesday and amazingly the tennis ball was still completely intact despite being swallowed by her four days earlier.

She is still recovering at home with Amy, her husband Lee, 45, her son Alfie, 16, and her stepsons Josh, 19, and Louie, 14.
Amy now wants to warn other dog owners to keep an eye on what their pets are eating as she never realised they could swallow tennis balls.
She said: “Dotty is very lucky to still be alive and we are so glad we realised she was unwell and took her to the vets.
“We now use bigger tennis balls to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
