MUAR: There will not be any personal attacks or mudslinging in his campaign at the Johor election, says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.
The Pakatan Harapan Simpang Jeram candidate said he would only highlight various important issues pertaining to the people of Johor.
“We want to highlight issues regarding the state’s safety, acceleration of the reopening of the Johor borders, measures to be taken for economic recovery as well as matters on protecting the welfare of Johoreans,” he told reporters at Surau Ar-Rahman Simpang Jeram here yesterday.
He is being challenged by three other candidates for the Simpang Jeram seat in the March 12 polls.
Salahuddin, who is also Pulai MP, is facing Datuk Lokman Md Don of Barisan Nasional, Mahaizal Mahmor of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and Zarul@Mohamad Zahrul Salleh of Perikatan Nasional.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin, who is also Parti Amanah Negara’s deputy president, added that Pakatan’s presidential council would soon meet to discuss the potential Johor mentri besar candidate should the coalition win the election.
“I do not want to comment much because I am contesting in one of the state seats.
“I will let the matter be settled at the Pakatan presidential council level,” he said.
Asked about the Health Ministry’s compounds issued to candidates for purported flouting of Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP), Salahuddin said all parties should observe the stipulated health protocols.
“However, I hope they do not take advantage by simply finding mistakes,” he said.
Salahuddin added that the safety of the Johor people was a priority for all.
“We need to follow all the SOP to avoid any clusters at the end of the election,” he said.
