KULAI: A food delivery rider has been killed after a car from the oncoming lane is believed to have veered into his path and rammed his motorcycle at KM30 of Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam here.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the incident occurred at about 5.50pm on Tuesday (July 20), after a 29-year-old man lost control of his vehicle.
“Investigations revealed that the driver was speeding on the left lane before trying to cross lanes but hit another car in the right lane.
“The impact caused his car to veer into the oncoming lane where it hit the 33-year-old rider,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 21).
The victim suffered head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team from Kulai Hospital.
“The driver was also injured, and was taken to Kulai Hospital for treatment,” Supt Tok said, adding that the victim’s body was also taken to the same hospital.
The driver of the car in the right lane was unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous or reckless driving.
