For many Brits, a huge amount of the value of a place comes from how much of your hard-earned cash you need to slide across the bar to get a pint of the good stuff.

And right now, nowhere in the UK offers better value on this deal than one of the country's most underrated places - Hull.

According to hotel company Accor, you can get yourself a pint for just £3.33 in the northern city - almost half that of the average £6 in London.

The company used data from Numbeo and Experian and analysed them with ONS data on weekly average income.

Other places with particularly cheap pints included Aberdeen, Coventry, Dundee, and Cardiff - all of which had an average of below £4.

But a cheap night out isn't the only appeal of Hull.

It also boasts three beaches nearby.

The nearest one to the city is Tunstall beach - a large beach which tourists say never gets too busy, as it is relatively underused.

Day Out With the Kids labelled it "a tranquil beach that’s off the beaten track" as well as "a great place for fishing".

While Yorkshire Beaches praised the "huge amount of space" it offers.

But another nearby beach, Hornsea Beach, boasts a chippy that has been named the UK's best.

Whitehead's Fish & Chips nabbed the top billing in this year's National Fish & Chip Awards.

And just a short distance away is Mappleton Beach.

Hull itself isn't short of great places to visit - with its award-winning aquarium being of particular note.

The Deep boasts the UK's only green sawfish, also known as a longcomb sawfish - distinctive for its enormous saw-shaped nose.

Reviewers praised the "amazing time" they have every time they visit the spot, which also features sharks, turtles, and penguins.

Hull also features several other historic attractions, such as the longest single span suspension bridge that can be walked or cycled over in the world in the Humber bridge, or the Streetlife Museum of Transport.

Staying in Hull can be as cheap £39 for two people, and camping options are also available in nearby Tunstall from around £13 per night.
