The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have appointed Nishika Kumble as their senior vice president of scripted TV for their Archewell brand. They said in a statement she will “lead all scripted television productions and work closely with Netflix to product entertaining content from diverse voices that informs, elevates, and inspires”. Daily Mail diary editor Richard Eden shared his scepticism over the title of the role, as he said it sounded like the couple were becoming a "corporation" now.
He wrote on Twitter: "'Senior vice president'.
"Harry and #Meghan really are a corporation now."
The couple already have a couple of projects in the pipeline with Netflix.
This includes Heart of Invictus, which will be a docuseries about Harry's project the Invictus Games.
It will be executive produced by him.
Meanwhile, Meghan will be executive producer on Pearl, which will be an animated children's series.
A statement from Archewell said: “Archewell Productions was founded by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020 to produce programming that uplifts and entertains audiences around the world by embracing our shared humanity and building community through similar experiences, powerful narratives, and universal values.”
Harry and Meghan signed a lucrative deal with Netflix last year as they set out to gain financial independence after quitting as senior royals.
