UNIVERSITI Sains Malaysia student Tee Chiew Rong showed her grit after being diagnosed with a tumour while pursuing her degree in economics.

BH online reported that she was diagnosed with the tumour in 2018.

Toward the end of that year, doctors advised Tee, the youngest of five siblings, to have the tumour removed from her head.

“The surgery had to be done as the tumour was getting worse. At the time, I was also having sleepless nights as I kept thinking about my year-end examination that would take place after the surgery,” Tee, 26, recounted.

However, she was determined to complete her education.

Despite having to postpone her studies for one semester to rest and recover from the surgery, Tee eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (Honours).

“I am glad that I managed to go through everything and finish my studies even though I had a tough time. I can’t wait to continue my studies further,” she said.

       > The home of singer Zaiton Sameon was inundated in knee-high waters after flash floods hit her neighbourhood in Kapar, Klang.

Zaiton, best known for her song Menaruh Harapan, said that the waters began rising at 3am on Saturday, BH online reported.

“I live with my foster family, so we were all helping each other move our belongings,” said Zaiton, 62.

“However, we could not salvage the refrigerator, which I used to keep rendang, as it was too heavy,” she added.

Prior to that, she caught the attention of fans when she uploaded a TikTok video showing her singing Kabut Serangkai Mawar amid the rising waters.

Fondly known as Kak Eton, Zaiton also said that she had been selling rendang to supplement her income.
