KLANG: Selangor exco member for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud has apologised to National Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Dr Siti Mariah recently said that Selangor had not received sufficient doses of vaccines to fully utilise its vaccination centres (PPVs).
She tweeted her apology to Khairy on Tuesday (June 29), adding that the state will receive some four million doses of Covid-19 vaccines for July.
"I attended the CITF (Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force) meeting this morning and Selangor will receive 4,008,710 doses for July. It's the biggest supply. Thank you, YB Mentri," said Dr Siti Mariah.
She also said, God willing, she would attend his meetings without fail.
She added: "Alhamdullilah, your nose tak panjang tadi (your nose did not grow long just now). Normal."
Her final retort perhaps refers to fairytale character Pinocchio whose nose grows long every time he tells a lie.
Dr Siti Mariah had said with 73 PPVs statewide, Selangor had the capacity to vaccinate 87, 616 people daily.
However, Khairy refuted this saying he was informed during a meeting with Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari that the state had the capacity to handle only 40, 000 vaccinations a day.
“I don’t know where the state exco member got her figure of 80, 000 vaccinations from, ” he said.
