KLANG: Selangor executive councillor in charge of public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmod made an appeal to all private clinics in the state to help monitor Covid-19 patients in the state.

In a tweet on Thursday (July 1), Dr Siti Mariah called upon all the general practitioners to help out on a pro bono basis.

“Calling all GPs in Selangor. We need you to help monitor home quarantine cases pro bono in your area of practice,’’ Tweeted Dr Siti Mariah.

She explained the clinics would be working hand in hand with the respective state assembly community service centres to monitor the home quarantine cases.

There are 56 state assembly constituencies throughout Selangor.

“We are getting from bad to worse,’’ added Dr Siti Mariah.

She ended her tweet by asking private general practitioners who were willing to help to email her.

Being a state with many industries, Selangor’s Covid-19 infection rate remains high.

This has resulted in most of the state being placed under enhanced movement control order beginning July 3.

Besides workplace clusters, the Covid-19 infection has also moved into local communities, with even students getting infected and bringing the infection to school.

When announcing the Pakej Kita Selangor 2.0 financial aid package recently, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari aired his concern for people infected with Covid-19.

He added it was worrisome that quite a number of infected people were brought to hospitals already dead.

Given this, the state had allocated funds to provide Covid-19 patients under home quarantine assessment tool kit to keep tabs on the infection progression or regression.

The home assessment tool comprised N95 facemasks, thermometer, oximeter, medicines and saliva test kits.
