PUTRAJAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been discharged after a successful elective medical procedure, says the National Heart Institute (IJN).
In a brief statement, IJN said that the former prime minister was discharged at 3.45pm on Thursday (Jan 13).
“He will continue his recuperation and recovery process at home.
“Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali express their thanks to everyone for their concern and du’a (prayers) over the last one week when Tun Dr Mahathir was admitted to the National Heart Institute,” said the statement.
The Parti Pejuang Tanah Air chairman was admitted to IJN on Jan7 for the elective procedure which was done the next day.
He was earlier admitted to IJN on Dec 16 to undergo a series of medical investigations and was discharged on Dec 23.
The 96-year-old Langkawi MP had undergone two heart bypass operations - in 1989 and 2007.
