PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been transferred from the Coronary Care Unit to the National Heart Institute’s (IJN) general ward, says his daughter Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir.

       She said based on an assessment by a team of specialist doctors treating him, Dr Mahathir is on the road to recovery.

       “Dr Mahathir is cheerful and is eager to fully recover.

       “To prevent infection, both Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali are not allowed to receive visitors at IJN at this moment.

       “Once again, he and the rest of the family thank all those who have prayed for his full recovery,” she said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 26).

       Marina has released several statements saying that her father is in stable condition.

       She had previously said that her father had been admitted for follow-up treatment at IJN on Jan 20 following a successful elective procedure on Jan 8.

       Dr Mahathir was previously admitted to IJN for the elective procedure on Jan 7 and was discharged on Jan 13.
