PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded more recoveries than Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Oct 3), with 14,454 recoveries compared to 9,066 new infections, says the Health Ministry.
Out of the new cases, 835 required intensive care with 815 being Covid-19 cases and 20 others either suspected, probable or under investigation, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
As many as 535 cases also required respiratory assistance, with 355 being Covid-19 cases and another 180 cases either suspected, probable, or under investigation.
"Out of the 9,066 daily cases reported today, 159 cases or 1.8% are in categories three, four and five while 8,907 cases or 98.2% are in categories one or two," Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement Sunday.
He noted that the national infectivity rate (Rt) currently stood at 0.89 as of Saturday (Oct 2)
Six new Covid-19 clusters were also detected on Sunday, three of which stemmed from workplaces and the remaining three from communities.
The addition of community clusters in Kampung Pos Kelang in Pahang, Taman Desa Wira in Kelantan and Parit Bengkok Tangkak in Johor as well as the workplace clusters in Sawit Bera Selatan in Pahang, Batu 11 Bukit Pasir in Johor and Jalan Seneng in Kelantan brought the total number of clusters to 5,507 since the pandemic started early last year.
Out of this, the Sawit Bera Selatan cluster had the highest number of cases at 49, followed by Kampung Pos Kelang and Batu 11 Bukit Pasir with 25 cases each.
Clusters Taman Desa Wira, Jalan Seneng and Parit Bengkok Tangkak had 15, 14, and 12 cases each, respectively.
Dr Noor Hisham said that there are now 1,008 active clusters while 4,499 have been declared over.
