MELAKA: Melaka Pakatan Harapan is still hoping to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri to discuss the political crisis in the state.
Its chairman Azly Zahari said it was important that the meeting be held soon to restore stability to the state.
Melaka Pakatan submitted a request for an audience with Tun Mohd Ali Rustam last Monday after four assemblymen declared that they had lost confidence in Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali as the chief minister, leaving him without majority support to continue helming the state government.
The four are Datuk Seri Idris Haron (Sungai Udang), Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu ), Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor) and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas).
Following this, state assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh declared the dissolution of the state assembly with the consent of the Governor, paving the way for a state election. On the status of their application to review the legitimacy of the dissolution of the state assembly, Adly said Melaka Pakatan would bring the case to court next week.
“We are still in the process of collecting the relevant documents,” he added. — Bernama
