KUALA LUMPUR: Seat allocation for the upcoming Melaka polls will be decided in a separate meeting, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
The Umno secretary-general added that any decision on cooperation with PAS for the polls will also be discussed later.
“Regardless of Monday’s decision by the Election Commission, Umno has instructed all party machinery to make their preparations because even if the polls get delayed it will still eventually be held,” he said when met at Umno headquarters after the party supreme council meeting on Thursday (Oct 14).
He added that the Umno supreme council had affirmed the decision to sack Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan from the party.
The duo along with Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad, who has since been terminated from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and independent lawmaker Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee had withdrawn their support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
This led to the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly.
