MELAKA: Barisan Nasional has yet to reach a consensus on working with other political coalitions in the Melaka election, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Umno president said there was no official stance reached yet on working with other coalitions.
"For now, our focus is winning the election," he said after a meeting with the Melaka Umno election machinery at Masjid Tanah near here on Tuesday (Oct 19).
Ahmad Zahid said fielding Umno candidates in the state election would conform to the party's constitution, where a list of election aspirants will be discussed at division level before it is submitted to the party leadership.
"We will evaluate each of the candidates based on their capabilities and abilities," he said.
Ahmad Zahid also said data obtained from previous general elections would help to determine the selection of candidates.
He also revealed that the party would focus on more than just the three "hot seats" of Sungai Udang, Pantai Kundor and Pengkalan Batu.
"We categorise all state seats as hot," he added.
Melaka has 28 seats and the state will go to the polls on Nov 20.
